Jesus Heals a Man on the Sabbath Day (Matt. 12: 9-14; Mk. 3:1 6; Lk. 6:6 11)
Jesus left from the fields of grain and went to their synagogue. In the synagogue there was a man with a crippled hand. Some Jews there were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus of doing wrong. So they asked him, “Is it right to heal on the Sabbath* day?” Jesus answered, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a ditch on the Sabbath day, you will take the sheep and help it out of the ditch. Surely a man is more important than a sheep. So it is right to do good on the Sabbath day.” Then Jesus said to the man with the crippled hand, “Hold out your hand.” The man held out his hand, and it became well again, the same as the other hand. But the Pharisees* left and made plans to kill Jesus.

The true faith and service to God are not about rigid adherence to rules, but about expressing love, mercy and compassion, even when it goes against the status quo.

Jesus Heals a Deaf Man – Mark 7: 31-37
Jesus, while on his way to Lake Galilee he went through the area of the Ten Towns. While he was there, some people brought a man to him who was deaf and could not talk clearly. The people begged Jesus to put his hand on the man to heal him. Jesus led the man away from the people to be alone with him. He put his fingers in the man’s ears. Then he spit on a finger and put it on the man’s tongue. Jesus looked up to the sky and with a loud sigh he said, “Ephphatha!” (This means “Open!”) As soon as Jesus did this, the man was able to hear. He was able to use his tongue, and he began to speak clearly. Jesus told the people not to tell anyone about this. But the more he told them not to say anything, the more people they told. They were all completely amazed. They said, “Look at what he has done. It’s all good. He makes deaf people able to hear and gives a new voice to people who could not talk.

With just the touch of his hand, Jesus cures a man of hid deafness and speech impediment and gives him a whole new life. The story reminds us of how much of an impact Christ can have on our lives. We may not even realize the tiny blessings that he sends us each day or the little miracles the he works in our lives. We should be open to hear God’s word and speak freely about the good news of his love and forgiveness.

Jesus Heals the Blind (Matthew 9:27-31, Mark 10: 46-52, Luke 18: 35-43)

Jesus gives life to a dead girl and as He was going away from there, two blind men followed him. They said loudly “Show kindness to us, Son of David. Jesus went inside, and the blind men went with him. He asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to make you see again?” They answered, “Yes, Lord, we believe.” Then Jesus touched their eyes and said, “You believe that I can make you see again, so it will happen.” Then the men were able to see. Jesus gave them a strong warning. He said, “Don’t tell anyone about this.” But they left and spread the news about Jesus all around that area.

This passage highlights faith, the nature of Jesus’s ministry, and the challenge of understanding his true identity.

Jesus Frees a Boy from an Evil Spirit (Mt. 17:14 18; Mk. 9:14 27, Lk. 9: 37-43)
After praying, Jesus, Peter, John, and James came down from the mountain. A large group of people met Jesus. A man in the group shouted to him, “Teacher, please come and look at my son. He is the only child I have. An evil spirit comes into him, and then he shouts. He loses control of himself and foams at the mouth. The evil spirit continues to hurt him and almost never leaves him. I begged your followers to make the evil spirit leave my son, but they could not do it.” Jesus answered, “You people today have no faith. Your lives are all wrong. How long must I be with you and be patient with you?” Then Jesus said to the man, “Bring your son here.” While the boy was coming, the demon threw the boy to the ground. The boy lost control of himself. But Jesus gave a strong command to the evil spirit. Then the boy was healed, and Jesus gave him back to his father. All the people were amazed at the great power of God.

The miracle of healing, where the boy is restored, reveals God’s majesty and power, as seen in the astonishment of the onlookers.
