    Day 183 Thoughts On Faith

    Author: Pastor Andrew Farland

Do you focus too much on what isn’t yet happening? Do you focus too much on obstacles or problems? If so, you’re like most people. The problem is that when we turn our attention to the projects that are not completed or worry about what’s not working! We lose faith. Why? Because it’s easy to have faith when we pursue a God-inspired dream, it’s hard to have faith when it feels like God has a closed door.

God wants us to put our faith in Him when we are excited about a new project and wondering why our pursuit isn’t working out.

Today, I want to share two truths with you about faith. I hope this will encourage you to keep pursuing God and believe His plan is the best for your life.

Faith is God-sized confidence in things unseen. If you are moving toward something you believe! God leads you, and you pursue the direction until the door slams. You never have to worry about the direction! You’re heading when you’re with God. Instead of worrying about whether or not you’ll make it to your destination or achieve some God-given goal, you are free to run full speed ahead until God stops you.

Faith grows stronger! When you face challenges. Another name for this kind of faith is double-fisted. On one hand, we hold firmly to the belief that God is in control and has the power to overcome any obstacle. On the other hand, we believe that no matter what happens, God is working everything out for the good of those who love Him. True faith still trusts when a door is closed.

Today, remember that God is in control and can open and shut doors on your behalf. So, when a door opens, thank God. When one closes, thank God and keep moving forward.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

  • Day 184 Keep The Faith

    Day 184 Keep The Faith

    Author: Pastor Andrew Farland

If you’re discouraged or find yourself in a season of questioning and doubt, I understand and have been there before. If you can relate, today’s devotion is for you or anyone who feels like they’re at a low point or their dreams have been stamped out! by the reality of the world: I want you to hear this: God doesn’t need something good to create something beautiful. He can do it out of nothing!

In the book of Genesis, we read about the Wonderful moment when God, through Jesus, gave form to a formless world and functioned in a functionless universe. He didn’t need to work with potential to get the job done. All he needed was matter and His creative power. The Bible says that God spoke the world into existence. “Let there be light,” God said. And there was light. “Let there be animals.” And there were animals.

That same God who spoke the world into being sees you and knows what you’re going through. That same God, who formed the world out of nothingness, wants to pick you up and create something more beautiful than you could ever imagine.

If you find yourself discouraged, don’t give up. Either your faith will get you where you want to be, or it’s going to lead you to a closed door that needs to be closed. No matter what happens, keep the faith!

God is the expert in taking broken and turning it into something majestic.

“Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 John 5:5)

  • Day 182 Don’t Force It

    Day 182 Don’t Force It

    Author: Pastor Andrew Farland

The other day, I had to slam the trunk of my car shut because it was overflowing with groceries. In the process, I crushed half of my newly purchased food and nearly broke a window. Have you ever been in the same situation?

In our Christian life, as we’re trying to become the people God created us to be, God is constantly and subtly moving in our lives. He speaks to us through His word and His Holy Spirit and guides us through other people and by closing doors. Honestly! it amazes me that God would want to spend time moulding and shaping me into the person He wants me to be.

At the same time, though, we can be stubborn and do to our faith what I did to the trunk of my car. We can hear or feel God moving us to go somewhere or to take a immense leap of faith, but instead, we run the other way, hoping that our plans will work out. We know God’s ways and thoughts are better than ours, but we still do our own thing.

I want to tell you today! that if it doesn’t fit, don’t force it.

If you know, deep down in your soul, that your way is not as good as God’s way, quit pursuing it!

What in your life is God asking you to release to Him? What is it that you’re trying to push through on your strength, knowing it’s not something God is asking you to do? Better yet, for what are you unwilling to give control over to God? What would it take for you to give God Full control?

What in your life is God asking you to release to Him? You keep pushing and trying to do something in your strength! Do you know it’s not what God is asking you to do, so what is that thing? What would it take for you to give God Full control?

This is important because when we let our stubbornness get in the way of God’s leading into our lives, we lose out on growing into the person. God is shaping and moulding us to be. Let down your pride, stop pursuing those things that aren’t encouraged by God, and live a life of obedience to your Creator.

“The Lord works out everything to its proper end.” (Proverbs 16:4)

Be encouraged today because God is with you.

  • Day 181 If God Reveals It, I Obey It!

Day 181 If God Reveals It, I Obey It!

    Author: Pastor Andrew Farland

Deuteronomy 29:29 says “The Lord our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.”

God knows you intimately. He formed you in your mother’s womb and knows the amount of hairs on your head. He knows your fears and insecurities and your dreams and aspirations. The creator of the universe knows you and loves you unconditionally.

Because He knows you personally, there will be times when He reveals a truth about Himself just for you. It might be through His Word or the voice of a friend. It might be through nature or a podcast you may listen to on a road trip. Whatever way God speaks to you, it’s important to remember those words from Deuteronomy. He has revealed it to us so that we may obey.

God speaks to us not to make us feel more special than everyone else. He gives us truth because He wants us to become more like the person He created us to be.

Today, I challenge you to be introspective for a moment. Has God been teaching you anything lately? Have sermons at church been challenging you to move in a positive direction? Have you been reading Scriptures that motivate you in a specific way? If so, spend some time thinking about the fact that God reveals truth to inspire action. He speaks to us so that we will obey.

What is God moving you to do? What he is telling you to do will make an impact on the lives of future generations.

Don’t back away from it. Faith is standing firm in what God says in every area and situation of your life. Take hold of God’s promise, keep it forever, and become the man or woman God made you to be.

“Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession.” (Exodus 19:5)
