Depression is a feeling of sadness, discouragement, and hopelessness that can lead to a loss of meaning in life. The Bible describes depression as a result of Satan’s efforts to ruin a Christian relationship with God.

John 3:14-17 explains God’s love for the world and how he sent Jesus to save us. God has shown his love for us that while we were still sinners he sent his son into the world to save and not condemn. Those who do not believe in Jesus will be judged or condemned. The passage encourages us to live holy lives and to love each other.

Isaiah 61:1-4, describes the work of messiah, who is sent to heal the damage of sin and bring good news to the oppressed. The Messiah is sent to heal the broken hearted, proclaim liberty to the captives and comfort those who mourn. The new lives that the Messiah’s salvation will bring spirit, task, a new place in the world and a new future.

Have trust in God and faith is prayer..
Prayer is one of the spiritual disciplines that lead to intimacy with God. It is a powerful tool for defeating depression.
