Matthew 12: 9-14 describes Jesus and his disciples enter a synagogue on the Sabbath. The Pharisees, seeking to trap Jesus, ask if it is lawful to heal on Sabbath. Jesus refutes their logic, pointing out that people are more important than sheep and that doing good; including healing is permissible on the Sabbath. He then heals a man with a withered hand, infuriating the Pharisees who plot to kill him. (Reference verse: Luke 6: 6-11, John 5: 1-9)
This event teaches that true faith and service to God are not about rigid adherence to rules, but about expressing love, mercy and compassion, even when it goes against the status quo.
