Respecting Parents:
Elders of a family bring wisdom, calm, dependability and unconditional love that frame the views of the broader family and shape the future of younger generations. Elders are like roots of the tree. They hold the family firmly at all times and make them strong. They are the ideal mentor.
Exodus 20:12, tells us
You must honour and respect your father and your mother. Do this so that you will have a full life in the land that the Lord your God gives you.
Proverbs 23:22, says
Listen to your father. Without him, you would never have been born. Respect your mother, even when she is old.
Colossians 3:20, tells us
Children, obey your parents in everything. This pleases the Lord.
Ephesians 6:1-3, teaches us
Children, obey your parents the way the Lord wants, because this is the right thing to do. The command says, “You must respect your father and mother.” That is the first command that has a promise with it. That promise is: “Then all will go well with you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” Fathers, don’t make your children angry, but raise them with the kind of teaching and training you learn from the Lord.
